Dark Whispers: Monday, October 30

Some tasty sound bites - and we all know how fond I am of anything that bites: Queen Of The Damned, black magic, the AntiChrist, and a first article posting by our HeathenDJ…

HeathenDJ - Halloween Among The Brights

As a working DJ, there are times when I have to deal with them. Dressed up as 6-packs of beer, of all things. A few cats, gangsters, Bill/Hillary couples, etc. I dressed as, well, me. I had a small, black and white *Happy New Year* banner left over from a couple of years ago taped to my booth. A few asked if I wasn’t rushing things a bit, and some of them even wanted an explaination. I wrote Carrie’s URL on a business card and told them to go look. Even suggested which links to follow. Who knows?

Are any of you DJs?
Do YOU have to deal with them? How?
(Even if you’re NOT a DJ…)

Oh, yeah, and by the way….Happy New Year to all of us!

Anonymous - Queen Of The Damned

Okay, so most people already know by now that the Anne Rice novel Queen of the Damed is being adapted to a movie, combined with bits from The Vampire Lestat. The movie stars Stuart Townsend (Lestat), Vincent Perez (Marius) and various others. It is currently being filmed in Australia as well as Death Valley. The producers are looking for lots and lots of extras in Death Valley to act as a crowd for Lestat’s big concert scene. Also, they are looking for extras/bit part players in Australia to star in the film as vampires. For more information, you can refer to This Official Site. The Death valley casting call is also offering a free gothic concert with free food and drink as well. For more up to the minute vampire news, please also refer to my site sometime at
Vampires Among Usİ. Good luck everyone with getting parts!

ender852 - kudos are in order

Special attention needs to be called to darkautumnsfire for her valiant reactions when the shit went down the night of Oct. 28. When the violence was going to erupt, she kept her cool [sort of :)], and in a room full of men she was the only one besides your’s truley who didn’t fail their morale check and flee with their tail between their legs. That girl has balls almost as big as me. :) She deserves your collective praise and respect; you know you have mine, annie.

DarkAutumnsFire, kudos.

Heathen, is Carrie from darklinks ? Great stuff for sure.

Queen of the damned should be great.. look forward to seeing it. I don’t make it out much to the movies, but that gives me a reason to feed my DVD addiction.

Some of the members have ICQ’d me, asking for Wiccan information and articles. If you know anything about this, please SUBMIT NEWS and tell us what your thoughts are.

If you read this, and want to know what kind of things we would love to hear from you about, click Dark Topics in the Main Menu and look at the topics we need. Thanks!

Greetings and Blessed Be,
I am a Solitary Wiccan. I would like to send a word of caution to the previous person who was inquiring on a binding as a black magic tool. Please first and foremost realize that magic is a very powerful tool. I follow what is known as the Wiccan Rede, known many different ways but the essence of the rule is what you give out will return to you, usually in however form you produce the magic (Karma). A binding is a very powerful magic tool that most Wiccans will only use as a last resort. If you bind a person in any way, their actions, choices, or whatever, then you are binding your essence with their essence. Therefore if you send out a binding with a “black magic” idea (I’m assuming when you say black you mean harm in some way to the person you want to bind, if I’m wrong please tell me), it will come back to you threefold and will be 3 times as “black” as you sent out. If the person that you are wanting to bind is hurting you in some way, I would advise a protection spell. These are just some highlights but I would recommend a couple of ways to find more info on the net; I always just use yahoo, excite, netscape, do a search on religion or lifestyles and then put in magic, vodoo, or wicca, etc.. a couple of sites I have found are wicca.com, pagan.com, cyberwitch.com, witchvox.com, nursehealer.com. If you are also interested in Wicca, I would have to recommend Scott Cunningham who gives very precise info for using gem, herbal, Wiccan, etc..I hope my info will help not offend as I am a Solitary and do a great amount of research of any and all pagan and Wiccan material. May ye and thee be blessed in all your ventures. Blessed Be!!

PS:October 31, Samhain, I like to call it the Wiccan New Year.

Wiccan theory of magick is not the ONLY theory of magick, nor is it the only correct theory. My belief has always been that what one believes is what is true for you and your immediate surroundings.

I am not a Wiccan, nor do I believe in the threefold law of return. I believe that justice is an entirely human invention - I think karma works on a grand scale, but that’s a long-term and generalized sort of thing, and in the span of our own lives and day to day existence, the only “law of return” is that of common sense: our actions don’t take place in a void, and most of them will get some sort of reaction unless nobody knows about them and nothing is affected. If you insult somebody, expect a nasty response. If you stub your toe, expect a bruise - etc. Magic can indeed work if one’s belief is strong enough, but I don’t believe that it bounces back to you, any more than I believe that justice is an inherent component of nature or a divine will or anything like that. The fact that we have to create our own justice is what makes the human effort of “ethical behaviour” so heroic.

In my opinion, binding somebody is really stupid unless you have a good reason to restrain that person from hurting you - not because your spell will bounce back on you, but because it would be unnecessary and therefore silly. Anybody that frivolous is bound to do something stupid sooner or later that will land him (or her) in hot water. That’s not karma, that’s just common sense.

Your admonition is well-meaning, and for the most part sound - just remember that it isn’t the ultimate truth, at least not for those of us who don’t share your world view.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The most powerful of newton’s laws if you ask me, it allowed us to travel into space.
I had an argument with a buddy of mine who thought the whole concept of honor is worthless, because others can use your honor like a string to manipulate you.
What he could never understand, is a strong enough personal ethos gives us impervious sanctity of mind and body. Honor is the stuff of heros and legend, true, but it DOES have it’s place in our society. You to can be a paladin(albeit a dark one :) if you have a strong enough sense of personal honor.
