Broken Glass

I feel nothing.

I’m numb to your touch.

I’m to the sound of your voice.

But I can’t hear anyone else either

‘Cause I’m locked up in this glass cage

And you swallowed the key.

You’ve never heard me

And you can’t read my lips.

You can see me quite clearly

But you still don’t understand.

I want to break the glass

But I don’t want to make a mess

Or have it break in your face.

Somehow you know me too well,

I won’t do anything to hurt you.

But I don’t have any diamonds

To cut my way out.

I don’t know what else to do,

Or how else to get out.

I thought I had it planned,

But you got in the way.

There’s blood and broken glass

All over the floor

Around your lifeless corpse.

I’m sorry it ended this way,

But I had to get free.

All I really needed to escape

Was the swallowed key.

As I try to clean up the blood,

I too, am cut by the broken glass

And fall to the red floor.

I guess I got what I deserved-

Now I join you

As another lifeless corpse

On a floor of broken glass.
