Verge of Tears

Somewhere in the hills of my mind
I’m fading
And seeking someone.

A teardrop falls into the ocean
Just another of a thousand before
It doesn’t mean much if the water is stagnant
Because you’ve let yourself drift too long

Your eyes reflect the red glow of the sunset
And from both the light begins to fade
Barely floating on the tears of your silence
Slowly sinking from the error of your ways.

So many faces in the void high above you
The many hands that tried to raise you from your sleep
Will you give them the heart of your ocean
Or will the land be flooded as they weep.

So many times the sun has risen
Only to fall, as you drift, and they weep
Let not the hands find the heart that is broken
Give them a life to hold and keep.
