I’ll Kill Again chapter 1

This is my first entry on the web, and part of a larger story. I’ll post each chapter as they unfold.

Misty walked to the pier. She had agreed to meet him for a night of fun in exchange for $50. Some might call her profession wrong, but her philosophy was, “I love sex, and I love money; so I got the best of both worlds.”

She didn’t know that both of her “worlds” were about to end before the hour was over.

She entered the shack, but before she could flick the switch she was pulled inside and the door closed behind her. The man who grabbed her lit a candle.

“Are you Endymion?”

He only nodded.

“What’s with the mask?” He said nothing. “You got the money?”

He held up a 50 dollar bill.

“You like it rough, huh?”

Again the man nodded.

He moved toward her and as she grabbed for the money she felt herself hesitate and felt an urge to run as far away from the shack as was possible. The man’s piercing gaze sensed her hesitation and inhaled like a lover as his mistress removed her clothes.

“Should I undress now?”

He nodded.

He paid no attention to her as she undressed. But once she stood naked before him; he looked at her with a hungry gaze.
She shivered.

He went behind her and wrapped his arms around her. He caressed her belly as a loving husband might do his pregnant wife.

She was with child and he knew it. What a thankless harlot to put her child in such danger. Too late now.

He gently lowered her jaw and inserted a Chinese mood ball. He then wrapped a silk scarf around her open mouth.

Again she felt the urge to run, but stayed.

He wrapped his hand around her throat as she felt something cold against her nether regions. It inched its way up to her naval and then slowly moved to the left. Then she felt a seering pain as he sliced her abdomen. She tried to call out, but couldn’t. He moved his hand to her chin and slashed her throat. She could feel the blood pool in her mouth as she dropped to the floor. She struggled to remove the scarf. He knelt down and pulled the scarf from her mouth. She choke up the ball in a shower of blood. He stood and circled her as she writhed before she drew her last breath. She finally lay still when he plunged the knife deep into her chest. Her body shuddered and then was still. He knew she was dead. He picked up the ball and slipped it in his pocket. He made sure not to step in the pool of blood that surrounded her lifeless body. He scrawled a note and hung it on the nail near the door where it was sure to be found. He heard a car pull up as he blew out the candle and exited the back door.

My dearest Suzanne,
I’m sure you don’t remember me. It’s been so long since we met. But welcome home. Meet me at the pier at 9 tonight. I have a surprise for you.
Always with love,
Endymion

Suzanne drove down the pier in her white miata. She hadn’t been back to her hometown since she graduated in ‘91. She remembered most of her highschool friends, and even kept in touch with a few of them; but she didn’t remember anyone named Endymion. After highschool she had moved to New York to pursue a career in art. If she had gotten the message anywhere but in her tiny town with a population of 1200, she would have been smart enough not to come.

If only she had been so smart…

She pulled up to the pier as the sun was just setting. The crisp September wind had died down but with the sun setting she could see her breath rise in a white mist before her. On the pier she saw no one. She called out but no one answered. She walked to the shack and opened the door. She felt around and flicked on the nearest switch. The shack was bathed in the bright light of its single exposed bulb. Her eyes rested on the naked body sprawled out before her in a pool of blood. The body had been split across the abdomen and throat with a knife protruding out of the chest.

Suzanne tried to scream but instead fell to her knees and wretched all over the poor girl’s naked body. She fumbled for her cell phone when her eyes rested on the note in the doorway.

She reached up and pulled it down. She glanced around the room before she opened it and read.

Do I have your attentio Sue? She’s lovely, isn’t she? I didn’t mean to kill her, well at least I think I didn’t. She was so pretty. Not as pretty as you though. She was a slut. She’d sleep with any guy for a buck. She deserved to die. I’ll kill again Sue. These fantasies, they keep coming. I hold back, but I can’t for long. I’ll kill again, Sue, unless you stop me first.
Always with love,
Endymion

He watched through the window as she fumbled once again for her cell phone before he fled.

To be continued…
