PUPPETMASTER set for a Reboot

I don’t know if this is a good thing or not. On the one hand, I love the PUPPETMASTER films, as any frequent reader of this site already should know. Seeing more PUPPETMSTER films, spiffed-up, with bigger budgets and more lavish production values, sounds awfully promising—on paper. But in reality? It’s not like the PUPPETMASTER franchise needed rebooting. After 25-plus years, they were still chugging along nicely. The latest—I think we’re up to ten films in the series by now—is in preproduction, and will comprise the final in a World War Two flashback adventure for the murderous marionettes. Is this sequel to the ongoing prequel still happening, in lieu of the reported reboot? It had better be! They can’t leave us hanging like that!

Will the new versions be headed by Charles Band? Will they be Full Moon productions? Or will they be something akin to PUPPET MASTER VS. DEMONIC TOYS, not considered “official” or “canon.” The idea of TWO ongoing Puppetmaster series, one from Full Moon and the other consigned to a “parallel universe,” might just be the best of both worlds. I attempted to contact Full Moon for some verification, but have yet to receive a reply. Could this mean that even Charles Band and company don’t really know what’s going on?
