The Jersey Devil: Now THIS is proof you can’t deny!

Dude. Come on. The pictures taken back during the summer of the North Carolina Lizard Man—which were actually pictures of a guy in a chunky Lizard Man suit—looked more realistic than THIS. It’s a goat. With fake wings. And either it was photoshopped into the frame, or somebody launched the goat into the air with some sort of goat catapult. I’m hoping it was the latter. Provided, of course, that a soft mattress or safety net was provided to allow the goat a soft landing. We don’t go in for no animal cruelty ‘round these parts. (Putting fake wings on it and launching it into the air does not in itself constitute cruelty, if the landing is comfy enough.)

I applaud a good hoax. Or a bad one, which this is. Any monster hoax, actually. And if it gets people who might never have heard the fascinating mythology of the Jersey Devil to do some reading, all the better. It can’t hurt the Garden State’s tourism any, either, which I’m sure they won’t complain about. (Maybe the NJ Department of Tourism is to blame for launching the goat in the first place?) The author of this article suggests that the goat might be stuffed. I hope not; the idea of catapulting a stuffed goat isn’t nearly as funny. He also says that no one should believe in the Jersey Devil, and they shouldn’t—not because of this video. However, if you read about all the historical sightings . . .
