Blade Runner

I just recently rewatched the director’s cut of Blade Runner. For those of you who don’t know about it I’ll give you a little background (straight off the back of the video case *smiles)

…..Rick Deckard prowls the steel-and-microchip jumgle of 21st-century Lost Angeles where dazzling miracles of high-tech design exist amid runaway urban grunge. He’s a “blade runner” stalking genetically made criminal replicants. His assignment: kill them. Their crime: wanting to be human…..For those of you who don’t know what a replicant is, they are a genetically created being who can pass for a human in almost every single way. In Bladerunner they are virtually slaves to humans.Having not watched this film for a long time, I now realise how perfectly it shows how the human race creates it’s own problems and only destroys itself. In a sense the replicants in the film are more human as they have a reason for destroying/hurting humans. Near the finale of the film, I found it particularly interesting when one of the remaining replicants, meets the person who created him. He ends up killing his maker….It made me wonder….what would I do if I was in that situation? So many thoughts about this film, and so hard to put them into writing. Has anybody else seen this film? and if so, what did you think of the whole filme noire?
