In an average little town, just like any other, lived a young girl named Josie Krista. One early morning when her parents were still sleeping, she went out in the backyard to play.
Asleep or not, she would never disobey her parents by doing things she shouldn’t have, behind their backs. Josie sat on the lawn for a moment thinking back to when she was six years old and was playing with her father’s hammer. He was very furious and taught her a lesson she’d never forget. From then on, she never disobeyed again..
..This morning was different..Josie heard a voice calling to her, “Come with me, you’ll be happy.” Standing before her was a man in a black cloak with a hood over his head. Even though it was morning, she could not see the stranger’s face. Normally, Josie would know better than to go with a stranger. She just stood there staring at the dark figure, wondering who he was and why he was here. Then, he spoke again the same words, “Come with me, you’ll be happy.” There was something urging her to go with him. So she went up to him. Immediately, he lead her to her father’s toolshed. “Go inside,” he began, “and get the axe.” Even though Josie truely promised she’d never disobey her parents again, she listened to his words and did as she was told.
She held it very shakily in her little hands and asked who he was. The stranger looked at her and replied, “You will find out soon enough who I am. If you do as I say, I’ll tell you. Now, I surely know you wouldn’t normally be allowed to handle things such as your father’s axe; but trust me..you won’t get in trouble for this. The axe is yours now.” Josie seemed to be hypnotized by his words. At ease, she ran around the yard with the axe in her hands. It didn’t feel wrong, yet she knew deep down something about this didn’t seem right. None the less, she continued to run around with it.
In the direction she was going, the stranger could see a big branch in her path. This is exactly what he had intended – He watched the child run happily..and then, she tripped over the branch that was lying on the grass. As she fell forward, the axe fell onto the ground first, her landing on it. She felt a shocking pain as the blade dug into her chest. Blood gushed out of her, making the ground around her body red, soaked from her blood. The dark stranger watched her drain on the ground there. Josie slowly lifted her head and looked up at him. He told her in a graspy voice, “I am Death. Your long journey is about to begin.” With blood oozing out of her mouth now, her head hit the ground as she slowly died.
The idea behind this is a little, morbid. But that is what we like, right? 😉 I enjoy the fact that you started out with death and destruction; contradictory to how most others start with happiness, then death and destruction, then back to happiness. Now I wonder, where will you go from here?
i really like the idea behind this story and i hope the rest of it is really good too. I like how you started off w/ her being bad and disobaying and stuff and then she got all happy when she was running w/ the ax and then she fell and died. that really was a good story….
Very sinister mood, I like it.
