Good Deed for the Day

You tease me with your lies
Enchanting me with your questioning “whys”
“Why don’t you come along”
“Here, why don’t you hit this bong.”
“Come with us it will be fun”
Don’t you see what you’ve done

I see through the mask you wear
If you only knew, you wouldn’t dare
I see the truth in your eyes
No matter what your tongue belies
Do you feel like a Savior?–Inviting me
Your good deed for the day done so easily
I want to feel loved, I want to be cool
Walking past your party in the pool
The finest girls, abundant alcohol
Comradship above it all
Invited I am to in-join
Buit in my mind’s eye–I toss the coin
Heads–being with you
Tails–alone with nothing to do
Heads–friendship and good times
Tails–Alone with my rhymes
Heads–Coolness, a dream
Tails–Alone as it may seem
The coin flips
And into your party my head dips
I join your fun
Swimming with you under the sun
But I am soon to realize
That it is not me in your eyes
Surely, I am always there
But no more noticeable than thin air
Was I your Good Deed for the Day?
Someone to invite, but with me you will not play
Ignore me, ridicule me, begind my back
Do you think that I don’t realize the tact
I see through the shell you wear
I see who is really there
Again I leave in a trail of Disgust
Again I have been torn by my own trust
I am just the Good Deed of the Day
Just one speck in the sea of Clay
Just there so that you can say:
“I’ve gotten my Good Deed for the Day.”
