HALLOWEEN And HELLBOY

Filming has officially gotten underway on the upcoming HALLOWEEN sequel-slash-reboot, set for release this October. There’s still not a lot of information, other than what we already know–John Carpenter will produce, Jamie Lee Curtis is reprising her role as Laurie Strode, the movie will take place in a “parallel universe” from the other sequels and will pick up where the first movie (or is it the second?) left off—but we do know some new names that have been added to the cast. Judy Greer will be playing Laurie’s daughter, and Andi Matichak will play HER daughter, Allyson, the film’s survivor girl. Also cast are youngsters Dylan Arnold, Miles Robbins, Drew Scheid, and Ginny Gardner as friends of Allyson’s. Or, as we on the outside call them, knife-fodder.

In other movie news, David Harbour of STRANGER THINGS fame says that getting ready to play Hellboy is hella-tough. If that physique in the photograph belongs to Harbour and isn’t CGI-rendered, then I’d believe it. The guy is seriously ripped, as Hellboy should be. Said Harbour: “The action that I’m doing in the movie, the rolling around on the ground and punching–things that a 40-year-old man should not be doing–and on top of that, the tremendous amount of prosthetics and makeup, but at the end of the day we would shoot some pretty beautiful stuff. And pretty unique stuff for this type of universe…” I’m a big mark for Ron Perlman in this role, so Harbour has some big cloven hooves to fill. Harbour’s got geek-cred, but does he have the chops to equal Perlman’s Hellboy?
