You see I never actually believed that. In my own teenage angsty way I had a few other ideas about hell. However, the last few months of my life have got me pretty convinced that the world is screaming under the weight of ignorant, intolerant, bloody- minded assholes. Not a new idea i realise. However on the flipside of that there are people out there with good souls that get them kicked in the teeth in this world in which kindness is confused with weakness. That is quite possibly the worst part.
“And how”, you might ask, “have you come to this grand and arrogant conclusion”?
Simple… After going through the clichéd life crises of everyone in my generation, I took a job where I was on the telephone to strangers for six hours a day, and realised what a diorama it was for a f***ed up world. In this way I discovered several shades and flavours and shapes of petty nastiness and abuse, and the ways in which people use degrade others to boost their own self esteem and drag their own miserable carcasses through another day of their sad little lives. Compassion is a dying concept. ‘Putting yourself out there’ and getting to know the people you share your planet with is the quickest way to become completely disillusioned with the human race.
Ever wondered why sometimes ‘normal’ people flip out in the middle of a ‘normal’ day surrounded by hordes of ‘normal’ people? I’m starting to think that its because normality isn’t all that (for want of a different word) normal. Often its there to hide something sick and rotten. Look at the people around you. And remember that the ones who shout the loudest at the ‘sinners’ are often the ones with the most to hide.
I wouldn’t call your conclusion arrogant. Perhaps unfortunate.
I don’t know where you’re from, who you’ve spoken to or what your life has been like. That doesn’t matter to me. You bitched about my species which has to hurt a little, but I guess I don’t blame you. I pity you a little.
Normality means acting in the way your current company expects you to act. Of course that’s a facade. No human being can keep that up, it’s just not possible. So people let the mask slip and we see the horrors beneath. Often it’s not even that horrible, people just freak out because it’s not what we expected. Well who gave us the right to expect anything from other people anyway?

Ignorant … yes, I know I am, in several ways. If I wasn’t then how would I learn?
Intolerant … perhaps, but only of people who lose themselves in lamenting the deficiencies of the world, neglecting to examine their own.
Bloody minded … hmmm, i guess so. On behalf of my species I apologise. But if everybody was so yielding and compliant, who would strike out and lead? Who would be strong?
Asshole … I despise that term more than
anything but if that’s what you believe me to be then that’s your decision.
Right now, most people will be thinking ‘he/she didn’t mean those comments personally’ but that’s just the point you see. It is personal to me because while you seem to separate yourself from the world en masse, i’m unable to do so. I’ll take the insults you throw at my people and I’ll hold them, if only to prove that my ‘miserable carcass’ is at least thick skinned.

P.S. perhaps people wouldn’t need to bolster their self-esteems if there weren’t so many people out there telling them they lead ‘sad little lives’, that ‘compassion is dead’ and the only world they have is ‘f***ed up’.
Just a thought.
P.P.S. Sometimes the ones who shout loudest at the ‘sinners’ are just trying their hardest to help in the only way they know how.

but men reason…and to this the blood of relative ethics would spawn…
there is no good nor evil…everything is relative…there is no restriction nor flaw to this as stated…even the human laws cannot restrict this perception of good nor evil…

i guess all you have to do is submit… take what you are given and retalliate in means which satisfy your perception of right. fight or flight…its up to you…

I kinda agree with you. People don’t treat other people well.
It actually depends on the person and how you treat them when you first meet.
In my experience the whole ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ thing is a nice idea, but doesn’t always work in practice (and yes, I am still trying 😛 ). As it has been pointed out to me assuming the worst of people straight away is not the way to go, but it is an easy habit to get into… The point of my post was just as much about how easy it is to become disillusioned depending on how you are treated as it was about people in general. I don’t profess to have any special insight , or to be different to anyone else that i was talking about. Thanks to everyone who tried to understand that.

And crystal anarchy, there is such a thing as “normal”. Normals suck. They’re the ones that call people like us “troubled” or “disturbed”. They’ve also given us the title as “the wasted youth”, and quite frankly I hate titles. I don’t claim to be anything. And we’re not toubled or disturbed, we just think alot. 🙂

well this is one of the hard topics because it can go either way. yes people are ass holes, but dont you think that we have caused the ass holes? you talk about how labels and titles are useless and stupid, but look at what your saying. “normal” and “disturbed or troubled”. the world is full of titles. you say you dont want to be titled or labled as anything, but we all title and label everything. everyone does and there is no way around it.

the only reason most people are assholes is because they know they can get a rise out of people who claim to be “good” people but none of us are really “good” people we all have our problems and things like that. . . and when the so called assholes act like the name you give them (assholes) then we, well not me in general but the “good” ones are just as big of an assholes as the ones who started it because when they retalliate thats not exactly the “nice” thing to do. . . but we all will do it . . .its the “normal” thing to do. . . we can’t help it that thats what our kind does when you piss us off i don’t know about everyone else but i don’t stand there and take it i do become an asshole then or better yet a bitch but oh well i am done i think i said what i wanted too but anyways bye
