The hairs on the back of his head stood up slightly, as his brain tingled with energy. Sinking back within himself he could see all of the small synaps connections of his nerve cells pulsating with the constant energy of conciousness. He focused intensly, redirecting the flow of energy through his brain, into his spinal column and down his arm to his hand.
He opened his eyes to find the familiar blue white aura sournding his hand. He moved to the door and touched the lock. Energy jumped from his hand to the lock in the form of thousands of small lightning bolts, until the tumbler clicked and the door pushed itself open.”No one steals from a thief!” He whispered harshly to himself, and he stepped into the room.He relaxed for a moment and the glow enveloping his hand faded into his flesh, and re-emerged from his eyes as he took a quick glance around the room. The room was sparcely decorated, a mettle chair and desk, a wooden filing cabinet resting against the wall, cold steel walls and ceiling. Unimpressed the glow in his eyes became brighter, and in the corners of his mind, he could see small cracks in the otherwise flawless floor, indicating pressure sensors. He stepped into the room and and walked quickly over to the desk, being carful to avoid the cleaverly hidden sensors. There were no drawers or shelves in the desk. He ripped the cushion off of the chair, nothing there. He stalked over to the filing cabinet. The glow in his eyes shifted from blue to purple, and inside the drawer he could see a red radiating object. He scanned the drawers for sensors, and seeing none, opened the top shelf. He sucked in a deep breath of elation, hissing through is clenched teeth. There it was! A two inch long piece of fossilized bone. It was red-brown streaked with plagioclase minerals, and tingle with energy. Picking up the bone, he crept back out of the room, to the hallway. It would be easy to get out. “Never steal from a thief.” He said to himself again, and smiled. “They thought I was good before, now I’m the best. They’ll give me my money… or maybe I just won’t let them try.”
