In The End

Avery walked into Chris’s work shaking, and tryin hard not to cry. They hadn’t talked for quite a while now, ever since the night of the party, and she needed to tell him what was going on.
“Chris, i need to talk to you.”Avery quietly said as Chris walked away from her.” Oh, yeah? What is it?” He looked at her with this look of annoyance mixed with bordem. He then saw the tears start and prepared himself for some confession of love or what not.

“I’m pregnant.” Avery started crying and apologizing, but all he could hear was silence. “I’m so sorry” she mumbled. “I’ve ruined our lives”. Chris looked up at her, yet remained behind the counter. “You haven’t ruined our lives, and you know what you have to do. There isn’t any decision to make. Anyways, I don’t have time for this.” He turned his back on Avery, and he heard her start crying again before she ran from the store.
For the rest of the night Avery walked around uptown thnking aboput everything. That night as she sleep, she had nightmares of Chris’s mom coming and yelling at her, and when she woke up in the morning, she felt worst then the night before……
TWO WEEKS LATER
By now all her friends new, and being the great friends they were, felt it was necessary to inform everyone else in their small town, and the next time Avery came home from school, everyone was whispering, and someone she had considered a good friend went as far as to tell her she was a murderer if she got rid of the baby. Avery was lost, and alone. She had no idea what to do, and worst of all Chris ignored her and acted like it was her problem. Avery left town feeling worst then before, yet when she got home to the city, she had a message waiting on her computer from Ainsley, Chris’ girlfriend. Avery instantly felt sick, but decided she could add her to her MSN list, and talk.
Avery: What?
Ainsley: I need to know if your pregnant. Evryone’s saying you are, and I need to know.
Avery: I don’t want to disscuss this with you. And ANyways, Who told you??
AinS: I don;t want to say, but a friend of yours. Plus, I read the email you responded to. That wasn’t Chris, it was me. Tell me please I want to know, plus syou shouldn’t have to go through this on you r own.
Avery: I’m not saying anything, but I want you to know, i’m sorry about everything.
Ains: Thanks alot.
Right after that was over, Chris phoned, where they procedded to have an argument about how she was a horrible girlfriend and she made him suffer for the three years they were together. This went on for a while, and by the time he was done, Avery was crying her eyes out….

ONE WEEK LATER
Well, she’d done it, she had an abortion, and it was the hardest thing ever, and tonight she finally told Chris, and he responded by thanking her. She didn’t want his thanks. And she hated herself. And then he went and made it worse.
“Avery, I want you to know I still love you and I never really got over you, but we don;t work out. Remember when we were dating and I said I wanted a little girl like you? Well, nothing of mine would be cute, but b/c it was yours, it would have been beautiful” Her heart ripped into at those words and she confessed to him she wished she could have had it.” I wish too, if only we were on better terms. But you’ll be okay”
“Chris, I’ll never be okay , i cry everynight, and I have no one to talk to, b/c no one understands. You weren’t even there.I hate my self for this. I wanted it b/c it was ours, and I love you” Avery hung up the phone crying and shaking. She hated her life now, and regretted her decision more then anything, and hated herself for still loving Chris after the way he had treated her. *******

The next evening, Chris got a phone call form Avery’s best friend Katie. “She’s dead Chris. Avery killed herself. She left a note, but no one really understands it. She wrote she hopes you get that little girl and that now she can be with the only person who needs her now. What does she mean Chris?” Katie was crying, and hung up the phone. Chris was speachless. His one and only true love had killed herself. After everything they had been through, she was gone. Chris slip down the wall onto the floor crying. B/c of him, she was dead. Years ago she had told him he would be the end of her, and it looks like she was right. ******
The night of the funeral, after everyone had gone home, a lone figure sat at Avery’s grave reading poems from a much read book. Poems that had, years before been written for her, about a love that could never die, and a pack of dying together. Nobody heard the gun shot, but if you listened carefully, you could hear the pages fluttering in the wind, and see a single page floating through the air, with the words ” I swore I’d never leave you”
