Talena was sitting at home, flipping through the channels on the tv when Caterin called. She was tired and drinking a can of Pepsi.
There wasn’t much enthusiasm left in her because she was half asleep, and it only left her feeling empty. Her boyfriend of recent was pissed at her, and she didn’t know what to do.
Things were going to hell, and Caterin wasn’t backing her up. In fact Caterin was trying to convince her to dump him, but Talena wouldn’t have any of that. She wanted her boyfriend to be her slave. She had dreamed that he would dress up in chains and serve her every whim. It was her sadistic hope to plead with him and make him hers. Caterin on the other hand knew different.
“Your boyfriend is a two headed snake! He only dates you Talena because I wouldn’t go out him.” When she said this, Talena got angry and started screaming at her.
“Caterin, your so fucking conceded! You’re lying! He loves me!” She said with a shaky voice. Caterin seethed. “Your not the only one guys hit on.”
“Guys and girls?” Caterin hissed in her ear.
“Jasmine was just a game Cat. You should know that. The only one I really like is you.” Caterin dropped the phone and caught it between her legs, then picked it up again. Talena had said it mockingly, as if playing with Jasmine’s heart had amused her.
“Well, I don’t give a fuck about you Talena.” Caterin hung up the phone.
The next day Talena’s boyfriend dumped her, and she came crawling back with apologies to Caterin. Her short black hair hung limply around her sickly pale face. She was getting thinner every day, and the cheekbones illustrated her pallor complexion with a yellow tint. She writhed under Caterin’s wrath, and with bleak brown eyes beseeched Caterin to forgive her. Talena’s slim body was curled in pain. She rested her chin on Caterin’s knees, where she sat on a chair.
“Please Caterin…I-I-I can’t do this anymore. I-I am sorry. I am sorry. I am sorry…-” She let a tear roll down her cheek. One moment of letting down her walls is all she gave as an offering.
“Fine, whatever.” Caterin said and forgave the worthless girl. Brushing away the tear Caterin thought to herself exactly what it was that bothered her now. (I resent anyone who gets on their knees and begs. They think of themselves as lower and I have no respect for people who have no respect for themselves.)
Talena’s head dropped, and she didn’t cry, but sat motionless. Caterin sat still and looked out the window, ignoring Talena’s need for comfort.

It was some time after Caterin had broken up with Jasmine that Jasmine sat in her room. It was raining cats and dogs outside, and the waterfall of a roof gutter crashed down right in front of the only window in her room. It was harsh water that pounded against the glass.
She was dressed for dance class. She loved dance, and since that sport she had thinned out and been able to do the splits. Today she wasn’t sure if the teacher was going to show up since she lived off campus. She was a little worried, but sat at her computer anyhow typing.
Morgan sat at her computer typing on AOL instant messenger. She giggled every few moments and proceeded to tell Jasmine exactly what was happening, when Jasmine got an instant message from Talena.
Her eyes were glowing a fiery green with a tint of blue. She sat upright in her chair and clenched her fists and she read the messages.
“I have something to tell you Jaz, but I think you’ll get mad at me.” -Talena
“What is it? Tell me Tal.”-Jasmine
“Caterin and I are going out.”-Talena
Jasmine paused and looked at the screen with unblinking eyes. The words began to blur and she turned to Morgan.
“Something is extremely fucked up.” Morgan looked at her questioningly.
“Are you okay Jaz?” Morgan asked picking her words with care, like shattered glass. Jasmine turned furiously to her computer and typed quickly.
“I got to go Talena.”-Jasmine
She signed off.
She stood up and shut the door with a slam, running fingers though her long hair she slid her back down the door, splinters jutting into her back, and hit the floor without noise. Jasmine pulled her legs up to her large breasts and rested her head on her knees.
“Jaz?”
Jasmine wanted to tell her. She desperately wanted to tell Morgan exactly what was going on, but she couldn’t. Shutting her eyes against the harsh light of the gray sky, sinking in through the window, she shut her lips. Just as Morgan was getting up to go to Jasmine and shake her into reality, the phone rang. Jasmine opened the door, and picked it up.
“Is Jasmine there?” A quiet voice asked.
“Yea. What do you want Talena?” Jasmine asked sweetly. She was standing rigidly, muscles tense, as if she would pounce.
“Are you okay?”
“Oh yes Talena! I’m just fucking fine!”
“Are you pissed?” Talena asked, and Jasmine couldn’t help but glare at the phone receiver.
“No.” It was simple and true. Jasmine wasn’t angry, more, she was just, upset. Her muscles relaxed. “Look I don’t want to talk about this Talena.”
“Jasmine, what is wrong?”
“Look Talena you know how I feel about Caterin…” Jasmine still loved Caterin, and the pain of losing her had made Jasmine physically sick. She just couldn’t take it.
“No tell me.” The voice seemed filled with wet velvet, but Jasmine ignored it, and continued.
“I hate the face that I still care about Caterin, and she doesn’t seem to care. I hate the fact that there isn’t anything I can do to change that.”
“Oh really?” The voice inquired. Suddenly Jasmine realized the change in tones, and knew exactly who it was she was talking too.
“Caterin?!”
“Yes Jaz, it’s me. So, are you pissed because I’m with Talena now?” Jasmine shook her head. She was so confused.
“No Caterin, you make your own choices, and even if you said you weren’t interested in her from the beginning it is your choice to change you mind.” Caterin sat curiously. She hadn’t wanted to lie to Jasmine. The true fact was that Talena had wanted to see Jasmine’s reaction, and then had flung the phone at Caterin and told her to talk to Jasmine. Caterin loathed Talena for it, but wondered what had sparked a change in this ever so jealous jewel that she had dated.
“Caterin, I have to go to dance.” Jasmine let the phone tremble on the hook after dropped it and sluggishly walked into her room. She grabbed her jacket, and went to the counselors office. This was the first time a stone block would fall from her castle.
