Leatherface Vs. Freddy Vs. Jason – It Could Happen

At first the reports that rights to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE could conceivably transfer to Legendary (and then conceivably on to New Line, thence to Warner Brothers) elicited no response from me at all. I mean, how many TCM movies have there been? Twenty-two? And out of all of them, only the original Tobe Hooper-directed masterpiece was worth watching, along with the Leatherface origin story, creatively entitled LEATHERFACE (although the latter did have its flaws). What could they do with the franchise now, I wondered, that would be worthwhile? As it turns out–potentially–there’s a LOT.

Consider for a moment having the THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise, the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise, and even the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise all belonging to the same company? It could happen. And if it DOES happen, how long before we see a Jason vs. Freddy vs. Leatherface movie? A Marvel-esque shared universe with three of the four biggest slasher stars in the whole freakin’ genre? We assuredly WOULD, and there is now a real possibility it COULD. And that is cause for some real excitement.

Now if we could just get the HALLOWEEN franchise involved in the deal.
