Movie Review: GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS

I don’t review ballroom dancing. Do you know why? There are two reasons. For one thing, I don’t have any interest in ballroom dancing. Secondarily, I know nothing whatsoever about the subject. For me then to attempt to review a ballroom dancing performance would be—actually, there are three reasons why I don’t review ballroom dancing. (Four if you consider that no one has ever asked me to.) I don’t like ballroom dancing, I don’t know anything about ballroom dancing, and for me to review ballroom dancing would be immoral, since I would in effect be lying to people, trying to pass myself off as something I am not. Also my reviews would be utterly worthless.

It works the same way for mainstream movie critics to “review” geek movies. They aren’t qualified, they aren’t interested, and they’re being dishonest. Always, ALWAYS ignore sites like Rotten Tomatoes where genre efforts are concerned. They don’t filter out the mainstream reviewers and thus they are dishonest. As for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS…

Perfection. I have seen it said elsewhere that the movie is everything we wanted it to be. I second that. It is a love letter to all us Monsterkidz out there. To Hyperborea with the commoners! This movie is for US!
