Robert Englund Has The Answer

What’s the question? Why, the solution to the conundrum! That’s what we’re talking about. We all want Freddy back. Yet as we learned with the failed NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake a few years back, Freddy doesn’t work without Robert Englund. And Englund says he’s too old to play Freddy anymore. I call poppycock, but it WOULD be tricky to bring him back after recasting the role for the remake. Fortunately Englund has figured out a way around both problems, and it’s brilliant.

“I would…cast different actors to play Freddy for every potential victim. Freddy could be tall, he could be short, he could be overweight, he could be muscular. Every one of the victims could have a different Freddy they imagined. And you could haunt them with that Freddy.”

Yes! And one of those Freddys could be Robert Englund! That way we could have our old familiar Freddy, we could have Kevin Bacon as Freddy, we could have Bill Moseley. Freddy, like Pennywise, could appear in whatever form he chose to prey on each victim’s personal fears. I love it! Make it happen, Hollywood, and sooner rather than later! Freddy Kruger has been absent from the theater for too long as it is.
