Shadows In The Dark: Part VIII, The Watchers Are chosen

Adrianna, Nathan, and Selenity moved from continent to continent clearing people. Selenity’s powers were far greater than she let on.

As each group passed through the portal, Malaki’s powers weakened. Selenity decided that the group’s should be larger than she had let them be.

“Why is he getting weaker?” Adrianna asked.

“Malaki is a being of a sensitive nature. He must live in a stable equilibrium.” Selenity said.

Nathan and Adrianna remained silent.

Selenity looked as if she was troubled and at any moment would begin to cry.

“What’s wrong?” Nathan asked.

“I’m afraid that I must ask a favor of you.” Selenity said.

“You have saved us, our world. You can ask anything of us.” Adrianna replied.

“Malaki will die in this world. He is the guradian of AkiRa and he must return to his home. Will you watch over him?”

“Of course we will.” Adrianna replied.

“When he dies, the skies of AkiRa will turn a magnificent red, it will rain blood and…”

“And what?” Nathan asked.

“This is why I must ask this of you both. He will be reborn to those who accept his care. Your first child will be a reincarnation of Malaki.”

Adrianna and Nathan looked at eachother.

“He will be a special child, and will need great care. He can never know hatred in his heart. To do so would unleash a great monster upon your world. AkiRa has never been without a guardian. Without one, AkiRa won’t survive. She will slowly die and drag your people with her.”

“It doesn’t seem we have a choice, do we?” Nathan said.

“Oh yes, you do. You can take your chances with AkiRa. I can try and find someone else to be his watcher. Some of the religious people of your world may take on the task.” Selenity replied.

“No. I will do it. I would be honored.” Adrianna said.

“I will too.” Nathan agreed.

“Then hear this, always before the guardian dies, a new person must be chosen to bear a new guardian. If you wish it, and are able to, you two will bear the guardian every time.”

“Yes.” Nathan and Adrianna spoke in unison.

“Then for this, I grant you eternal life.” Selenity placed her hands on Nathan and Adrianna’s heads and spoke in AkiRan. She then moved her hands to their abdomen’s and spoke again. “You two will be the watchers over the AkiRan guardian forever. If you ever choose to relenquish the powers to someone else, you must open this.” Selenity produced a small brown, leather bound book. “And recite page one while holding your hands of the new guardian’s heads, and the second page while your hands are one the abdomen’s.”

“What about the other pages in the book?” Adrianna asked as she was handed the book.

“Never worry about those.” Selenity said. “Malaki will recite those upon his entry back into AkiRa. You three will be the only ones with knowledge of what has transpired. AkiRa will be transformed to look exactly like your world. Your home, however, Malaki will show you, and is a temple that can never be destroyed.”

They arrived at the portal with the last group. After everyone entered, Nathan and Adrianna started to follow, carrying the weakened Malaki.

“We’ll be in touch.” Selenity said.

  2. thanx to both of you.

i have never heard of the series, but i’ll look into it.

all of my posts come from my imagination.

i recently completed a really long story, but i’m hesitant to post it on darkness.

it’s sad and a bit dramatic, but not exactly dark.
