I hate hurricanes. I mean, I don’t know of anybody who actually *likes* them. Unless we’re talking about the alcoholic beverage instead of the tropical storms from which the drink take its name. I don’t live in a coastal area, but I always have to worry about my adopted home state of Florida and my friends there. The same is true of New Orleans, Biloxi, Savannah, Mobile. As I sit typing these words, yet ANOTHER hurricane is bearing down on the Sunshine State—I’ve lost count of how many storms there have been this season. Or, to be more accurate, I was never keeping count to begin with. But it seems like a lot. And even one is too many.

Hating hurricanes, then, and in no way, shape, or form intending to make light of the tragedy some people may face, and people have faced in Mexico and in the Caribbean, I can’t help but appreciate the irony of having a hurricane named “Michael” making its appearance in the month of October, the same month that the new HALLOWEEN movie is due to hit theaters. Unlike with the hurricane, though, I can’t wait until the movie gets here. Hurry up, then, Michael! And Michael go away!
