Under the Moonlight

The trees swayed, the owls hooted, and the moon shined its light upon the cemetery’s ground. I stared up into the star-filled sky, so peaceful. One hand I held my equipment and a cigarette in the other. Took one puff and let it drop to the ground and smothered it with the tip of my shoes. It was time!

The moon was full and a wolf’s howl could be heard, no a werewolf. I took out my trustee shotgun and a silver bullet. Under the moonlight I can see a footprint, large enough to be a werewolf! Taking a pinch of the dirt, I took a sniff. As the breeze came, it’s scent hung in the air.

In the woods, there was an opening, slowly I moved towards the opening. Nothing can now be heard except for the pounding of my boots on the dirt ground as I walked. It was here. I can feel its presence, I can smell it, and I can hear it’s low growls. I felt its eyes upon me, watching my every move.

Behind me I heard rustling, I instantaneously turned around and pointed my gun in the direction where the noise was. It was only Elaine. “Hey Peter! I thought I heard some foot steps over here, so I decided to come over to see who it was!” She said as the breeze lifted her hair slightly. She brushed the hair out of the way with her long fingers. “So, Elaine don’t you have work tomorrow? Up a bit late aren’t you?” I asked her while I lifted up my cowboy hat a bit allowing her to see my green eyes now. “Oh I was just visiting my mother’s grave since I couldn’t sleep. Let’s go for a walk!” I nodded as a respond. She walked beside me; I quickly pulled out a smaller gun to shoot at her. She dodged it. “Peter? What are you doing?” She asked with a false innocent face. “Stop your acting, I know who you are and I am here to kill you!” I responded.

At that she was furious! Hair started to grow, her eyes turned greyish-blue, her teeth grew, and her height doubled in size. A loud howl came out of Elaine. The nearby birds in the trees that were asleep are now awoken and flew frightened away to somewhere safe from the beast.

She rushed at me and tried to claw at me with her long tough nails but I jumped up, on to a branch. Her eyes filled with hatred and anger like fire was blazing within them. I jumped on to another branch but after that she disappeared from my sight. I looked for her but only to hear rustling from everywhere, unable to locate where she was. Her presence was everywhere, if I made one wrong move, I can be dead for sure. Her agility was fast but not fast enough. I spotted her and took one quick shot with the shotgun that had the silver bullet within. There a thump was heard. Elaine lay there, with blood pouring out of her blasted chest. She was returning to what she once was, a human. I walked back to the outside of the woods and place all my equipment back into my case. Every were-wolf that has been killed by me has a special flower I place on them. The flower represents that this person is no longer under the curse and their soul is no free to go. I name this flower Angelic White. I took out that white flower from my case and made my way back. I walked back to find Elaine gone and the only thing left was the puddle of blood. With this amount she won’t survive long, when the sun raise she would be long dead by then. I placed the Angelic White down in the puddle of blood.

After that, I collected everything and stared once again back into the star-filled skies and walked away back to my car under the moonlight.
